By Newsbreak Executive Producer Salma Patel - The 70th Anniversary of the Freedom Charter at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Gandhi-Luthuli Documentation Centre will take place on Thursday. The charter is a historic document that served as a blueprint for the political, economic and social structure that the people of South Africa demanded and was adopted on the 26th of June 1955 at Kliptown in Soweto. This document, although not fully implemented, played a role in government's approach in its service delivery programme. The freedom charter has also been used as a foundation in drafting the National Development Plan (NDP).
