Melissa and her husband Mark Hortman were shot dead on Saturday at their home just north of Minneapolis. The state governor, Tim Walz confirmed that 57-year-old Vance Boelter was arrested for the shooting. Walz called the killing a "politically motivated assassination". On that same night, Minnesota Senator John Holman and his wife were shot, though are recovering in hospital.
