The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has come out in full defense of party leader, Jacob Zuma. In his address at the ANC's uMkhonto weSizwe Liberation War Veterans (MKMLV) conference in the Free State this past weekend, Mbeki insinuated that Zuma was an apartheid operative. Mbeki further blamed the party's electoral loss in 2024 on Zuma. However, the MKP have not taken the utterances lying down.
