by Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - The South African Medical Association (SAMA) says an increase in road accidents this festive season is putting a major strain on healthcare workers. Thirteen people died in two separate road crashes in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend. Five people died in a head-on collision between a car and a police vehicle on Sunday night at Vryheid in northern KZN. In a separate incident, eight members of the same family died when the taxi they were travelling in, overturned and rolled down an embankment in Nkandla on Monday. SAMA Chairperson Doctor Mvuyisi Mzukwa says the shortage of healthcare workers coupled with austerity measure is placing a massive burden on healthcare workers who are dealing with festive season incidents....
