by Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) is calling on long distance taxi and truck owners to make provisions to ensure their drivers do not get fatigued on the roads. This comes in the wake of a crash involving a minibus taxi on the N3 in the Mpumalanga province which claimed the lives of seven people yesterday. In another crash about a week ago, a head-on collision, involving an SUV and a minibus taxi, happened on the N9 just outside Graaff-Reinet in Eastern Cape leaving 14 people dead. RTMC spokesperson, Simon Zwane says they do suspect these crashes to be related to fatigued drivers. Zwane also says they are noticing a high number of pedestrians who are being killed by vehicles on the road and is urging people to be extra careful as roads are much busier in the festive period...
