Preparations for this year's Comrades Marathon have switched into overdrive this week as over 21-thousand runners are expected to participate in the 50th up-run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg on Sunday (14 June). The expo at the Durban Exhibition Centre opens on Thursday (11 June) where runners can collect their race numbers while enjoying the buzz of excitement. The official distance of this year's race is 85 kilometres and 55 metres, compared to the usual 89-point-98 kilometres. Dries Liebenberg reports . . .

Selvan Govender says the reflections suggest an erosion of democracy on many levels...

By Newsbreak Producer, Tashlan Naidoo - Religious body, the South African Hindu Maha Sabha will lodge papers at the Equality Court against Pastor Mervin Naidoo for his comments against the Hindu community. This after a video of Naidoo went viral on social media. Among the comments in his sermon, he told the congregation to pray for food received from Hindu prayers so that the demons will die. Vice president of the Maha Sabha, Professor, Brij Maharaj says the comments are deeply concerning....
