According to University of Pretoria's Centre for Human Rights banning children from accessing social media is a political shortcut that ignores the real source of harm: platform design and business models. Earlier this month Australia imposed a ban on children using social media- saying it will reduce the negative impact of social media encouraging young people  to spend more time on screens while also distributing content that can harm their health and wellbeing.
