By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Professor Deresh Ramjugernath says he will use his upcoming tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Stellenbosch University in the Western Cape to turn the institution into Africa's leading research-intensive university, and Africa's first Top 100 university. Professor Ramjugernath who has been with the University for the past four years will take over as VC from the 1st of April. Among his previous positions are Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Innovation, Commercialisation, and Entrepreneurship at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching at Stellenbosch University. He was also recently appointed as Vice-President of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). Prof Ramjugernath spoke to Newsbreak about his goals and ambitions for the University going forward...
