The Natal Indian Congress Legacy Foundation - or NICLEF - has been formalized after the successful NIC 130th Anniversary programme held in 2024, which revived public interest in the historic role of the NIC. The foundation will be formally launched next year. Gandhi's granddaughter, struggle veteran and peace activist, Ela Gandhi, was voted in unanimously as chairperson of the board.
