By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - Women from Merebank, south of Durban are being encouraged to empower themselves with sewing skills that could open doors for entrepreneurship and financial independence. This as the Merebank Book Project launched sewing classes in the community to equip women with practical skills in garment-making and fabric work. The classes are being conducted by the Divine Life Society of South Africa. Facilitator - Kalay Iyman says 12 women from Merebank and Wentworth are currently attending the classes.
