Emotions ran high in court yesterday in the Joshlin Smith's kidnapping and human trafficking case - when a video of the little girl was played in court during the Victim Impact Statement of a social worker. This as closing arguments in aggravation and mitigation of sentence concluded in the Western Cape High Court sitting in Saldanha. Convicted human traffickers, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno Van Rhyn were found guilty following the disappearance of the little girl in the Middelpos Informal Settlement in Saldanha Bay, in February last year. In mitigating for sentence, the lawyers for the accused have asked the court to consider the fact that Joshlin is still missing. Andile Mbanjwa reports...
