Lutchmanan passed away yesterday aged 64. She was a radio presenter on Lotus FM for over 28 years, an educator and author. Lutchmanan produced 22 publications to date, including a biography of Nelson Mandela in Tamil. Her close friend and Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces - Les Govender says he is still in disbelief after hearing the news of her passing...

It was a day of sadness and sorrow- as seven family members were laid to rest in Newtown, KwaDukuza in Northern KwaZulu Natal. Allen Monswamy (52), his wife Sandy (57), their children Kraidon (26) and Shamaria (20), as well as relatives Gonosagren Padayachee (51), Mooniamma Padayachee (78) and Mariama Happanah (83) were brutally murdered on Tuesday. One of the three suspects worked for the family. The suspects will appear in court on Tuesday- but that was little consolation of the hundreds of mourners gathered at the Stanger High School Sports Ground on Sunday. The Anger and Stress Management Centre says that South Africa accounts for some of the highest incidents of road rage in the world. This follows a case of alleged road rage in Emmarentia in Johannesburg that claimed the life of a man. Faisal ul Rehman was shot to death- after an altercation with a fellow motorist. It's alleged that the situation escalated after a fender-bender occured. While the NPA has decided not enroll the matter in court just yet- the public debate about road rage has caught on like wildfire. By Newsbreak Producer, Shanell Daniel & Taliesha Naidoo - Three suspects accused of the brutal kidnapping and murder of seven family members in Newark, Mandeni - in KwaZulu-Natal will appear in court on Tuesday, 28th April. The suspects were expected to appear in court today, but the date was changed following an agreement between the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court and investigating officers. Newark construction company owner - Allan Monswamy - his wife, two children, as well as his wife's mother and two siblings were kidnapped during a break-in at their home on Tuesday night. The attackers tied them up and drove them 200 kilometres to Melmoth where they were shot and stabbed to death. One of the women was raped and money was withdrawn from the victims' bank accounts. An intensive investigation involving Newark police, KwaDukuza detectives and specialised provincial units led to the arrest of three suspects. Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, is at the Monswamy family residence paying his respects to relatives and community members....
