By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Following the halt of US AID funding to South Africa, corporate executives are calling on employers to fill in the gaps at the workplace in relation to HIV and Tuberculosis. According to UN AID, in February this year with about 40 health projects in South Africa received termination letters, leading to their cancellation. This has resulted in the cessation of services provided by over 8,000 PEPFAR-funded staff who were involved in HIV response activities. Brice Salence Nunes from Old Mutual Corporate says with concerns around a rise in HIV and TB cases, the cut in funding could lead to a loss in productivity among other things. Nunes explains some of the options in which employers could provide to better manage their health strategies going forward...
