Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife says more than 1,000 elephants need to be relocated to prevent further damage to biodiversity and sensitive habitats. The conservation agency says relocation remains its preferred option but has cautioned that culling could become unavoidable if other solutions cannot be implemented. Ecologists say the growing elephant population is placing increasing pressure on vegetation, water resources and other wildlife. Ecological advice Manager at KZN Ezemvelo wildlife, Ian Rushworth, says the priority is to protect the long-term health of the province's ecosystems...
