By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - In a world where algorithms shape opinions, youth are being encouraged to remember the critical role that literacy plays in being digitally fluent. Monday, the 8th of September, marks International Literacy Day, which will be commemorated under the theme, "Many Literacies for a Connected World". Durban-based non-governmental organisation - Environment & Language Education Trust (ELET) will be hosting an event highlighting the growing importance of Information Literacy, Digital Literacy, AI Literacy, and Reading Literacy in shaping informed and empowered citizens. Sandro Thaver, Research, Development, Monitoring and Evaluation at ELET says the organisation's future-focused event will also give young minds from eight project schools a hands-on Robotics & Coding workshop, introducing them to the basics of algorithmic thinking and machine interaction...
