By Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - Civil society organisation - Defend our Democracy - says the criminal justice system is a national emergency, which needs to be urgently addressed by President Cyril Ramaphosa. This follows allegations made at the weekend by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi against senior police officials, including Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu. Mkhwanazi claims Mchunu was allegedly involved with criminal syndicates and that the SAPS was infiltrated by syndicates and rogue elements. He further alleged that the task team investigating political killings was disbanded because it was closing in on corrupt politicians and businesspeople.
