By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - The Cultural, Religious and Linguistic (CRL) Rights Commission together with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will this weekend commemorate the 4th anniversary of the 2021 July unrest. The event will be held at the Redfern Community Hall at Phoenix north of Durban on Saturday. The unrest and rioting which began in KwaZulu-Natal following the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma for contempt of court. It then spread to the Gauteng Province, claiming the lives of over 300 people. The cost of damage to infrastructure as a result of the unrest ran into the billions. This weekend's event is aimed at remembering those who past as well as fostering a culture of social cohesion and community. This follows a rise in racial tensions between residents of Phoenix and surrounding communities such as Bambayi and Zwelitsha. Convener of the committee, Mxolisi Myeni says there have been several efforts to restore peace amongst these communities who have been living together for many years...
