South African chef Bradley Joseph says heritage recipes are brought to life when they are cooked, tasted and shared. He highlights "chevra" (also known as chevro, chevda or chivda) - a snack mix that has been passed down through generations and has evolved in many South African households. From coconut shavings and cashew nuts to cornflakes and puffed rice, families have added their own local ingredients and flavours, making the snack uniquely their own.
