By Newsbreak Executive Producer Salma Patel - The Babita Deokaran Bursary Scheme officially launched at the 5th Anniversary of her assassination and murder. Deokaran was the whistle blower who uncovered R850-million in suspicious and fraudulent payments, as well as tender irregularities at the Tembisa Hospital. The launch at the Shree Mariammen Temple at Phoenix, north of Durban, will ensure that underprivileged children gain the support needed to study further after matriculating. The initial bursaries will give children the opportunity to study Medicine and Life Sciences at a prestigious University in India. Member of the Mt Edgecombe Arts and Cultural Council, Seelan Archary, says the bursary scheme will ensure that Babita's legacy is kept alive...
