The decision by Ramaphosa follows explosive allegations by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, of a sophisticated criminal syndicate that has allegedly infiltrated law enforcement and intelligence structures in South Africa. Mkhwanazi has accused Mchunu of allegedly interfering with sensitive police investigations which have also resulted in the disbandment of the political killings task team in KwaZulu-Natal.
