Chairperson Vee Gani says the country must remember the support it received from fellow African nations during apartheid. He has called on communities to uphold ubuntu, tolerance and social cohesion as campaigns against foreign nationals intensify. Civil society groups have meanwhile warned that rising hostility towards migrants could deepen divisions and fuel xenophobic violence. The developments have reignited debate around immigration, human rights and access to public services in South Africa. Gani insists that every child, regardless of nationality or documentation status, has a constitutional right to basic education...
