August 6th 1985: the lives of about 1500 South African Indian families changed- when they were forced to flee their homes in Inanda, north of Durban. Dubbed the 1985 Inanda Riots- communal tension was sparked between Black and Indian South African communities in the area. And till this day- there is no official reason why. Some say the tension started due to new communities settling in the area others say it started because a new business community wanted a slice of the economic pie. But for hundred's displaced community members- 40 years later they still don't know why they had to flee their homes. The 1985 Inanda Riots Victims Initiative are calling for an inquiry into the incident. Members Narendh Ganesh and Pravesh Naipal joined the conversation Historian Omar Badsha also took us back to that time...
