Today’s topic focuses on I did not make it, now what?—a key area that affects many young people as they transition from school, pursue further education, or enter the world of work.   Not everyone passes Grade 12 the first time—and that can be devastating to a learner who had their sights set on pursuing post-school and education and/or employment opportunities. Today, we remind our listeners that your matric results do not define your entire future. The DHET proposes?? multiple pathways for young people who need a second chance.

Today we focus on Transitioning from School to the Post-School Education and Training system. The DHET recognises that moving from the structured environment of school into post-school education, training, or the world of work can be challenging for many young people. This transition requires not only academic readiness, but also emotional preparedness, life skills, and awareness of available support services. Learners must adapt to new learning environments, increased independence, and different expectations. Career Development Services play a key role in supporting this shift by providing guidance on study skills, time management, learner support services, and realistic career planning to improve access, retention, and success in PSET.
