Welcome to Stories for Kids by Lingo Kids, where we discover fascinating facts about the world around us and the fun of play learning. In today's episode, Cowie has to tell her friends that she does not like to be hugged. Sometimes it's hard to know how to say you don't like something, especially if you're the only one. Let's see how Cowie tells her friends how she's feeling. Philly just flew over to Cowie to find out what's wrong.

So let do you Callie?

Say?

Why is she so mad?

Oh? Billy says that Cowie does not like hugs.

That's impossible, Yeah, everyone likes hugs.

Actually, Elliott, some people like hugs and some people don't really, yes, really, and some people like hugs sometimes but not other times. That's Drew, Billy. Sometimes it also depends on who is doing the hugging.

Huh, I get that.

I mean I only like hugs if I know someone really really well.

So you don't like hugs? From strangers, Lisa, only close friends.

Yeah, oh, are you a close friend, Lisa, Yes, Elliott, you are a close friend.

I even want to hug you right now.

Okay. Who oh.

Billy says he likes hugs, but only gentle hugs. He does not like to get his feathers raffled.

Okay, so gentle hugs for Billy like this, Billy.

Perfect? Oh, And Billy says to please note that he does not like hugs when he's in the middle of a project.

Oh okay, So some people like no hugs, some people like gentle hugs, and Billy's no project hugs.

And Elliot is something bothering you?

Well, I'm confused.

I really really like to give hugs, but I don't know if someone wants hugs.

Great question, Lingo, kids, listeners, can you help Elliott? How do you know if someone wants it's a hug?

Yep.

The best way to know if it's okay to hug someone is to.

Ask, Oh, I can do that. I can totally do that.

Great idea. Billy says we should go tell Cowie what we learned.

Yeah, let's go, Cowie.

Cawye, Billy told us you don't like hugs.

Is it true, Cowie?

Well, I don't know, Cowie, it's perfectly okay. If you don't want to be hugged. You are the boss of your own body. Everyone is the boss of their own body.

Ooh, I like being the boss, Cowie.

I'm sorry. I thought everybody liked hugs. No, I know that you don't like hugs, rank so it.

But why didn't you just tell Elliott you didn't want a hug.

Well, I didn't what hurt his feelings? Eliot loves hugs. I do love hugs. They feel so cozy to me. That's not how they feel to me.

Billy is wondering how hugs feel to you, Cowie, I don't know.

You just feel like too squishy and squashing, like yuck.

Ew I wouldn't like that either. But I still don't understand why you didn't just tell us how you felt.

I mean, you didn't have to yell and quit the game.

Yeah, Cowie, you can tell me no hugs. I wanted to. I just didn't really know what say.

Sometimes it's hard to say no if you don't want a hug, especially to people you care about. But there are kind ways to say no.

Yeah, like no no, no, no, no, that's.

One way, Lisa, Lingo Kids listeners, Can you think of some other kind ways to say no if you don't want to hug?

I have one no, thank you?

Oh? Or no, hugging is not my thing?

No, but thanks for asking.

Billy says, no, but we can high five. Those are all great ideas.

Kewie, I know you don't want to hug, but do you still want to play Huggy Wuggy teddy tag?

No, thanks, don't play something else.

That was a great way to say no, Cowie, thank you?

Yeah, really you, Cowie. Let's play a new game?

Oh yes, what shall we play?

Can? Billy says it has to be really really fun.

Yeah, but with no hugging, I can't think of anything.

How about floppy flood tag?

You don't need hugs, just floppy foods.

That sounds super fun and you're.

Well.
