Dear Mapaseka

I am a 35 year old divorced female with one child. 4 months after my long divorce a friend of mine approached me and confessed his love for me and to be honest I did not want to get into another relationship but I also liked him a lot. He pleaded for me to give him a chance and swore he would treat me well. He is a nice, god fearing man.

So I decided to give us a chance and I have to say he has treated me and my daughter very well, even my family likes him though it was not easy introducing him to my family.
We are 6yrs into our relationship and I’ve only met his brother, a cousin and two friends. I’ve been to his place; he stays with his aunt (who I have never met), I literally feel like I am sneaking in when I am there.

I have brought this up with him and his excuse is that he does not get along with his family but now and then he attends family gatherings. We spoke about
having kids and we got pregnant this year. To my surprise when I told him the good news he asked me to have an abortion as he was not ready and because of family what what then he changed his mind and said we should keep it.

That really broke me and I lost the baby a week after (I was 7 weeks pregnant). Soon after the miscarriage he said we should try again and honestly I don’t want to and I have started taking birth control and he doesn’t know. I have recently brought up my concerns about our relationship and honestly I don’t think it will change and I feel like I am slowly falling out of love, even communications is becoming a one way thing.

I never know what he is thinking. It feels like I am talking to a wall. What frustrated me recently was that he said there was a family event happening and he’ll go with me, guess what he played dead, never mentioned anything on the day, the day before or the day
after. I feel like I am holding because my family loves him and he is a good person but he just needs to grow up. Am I crazy to still be in this relationship?
