THE LETTER Guest BRIAN MHLANGA & REITUMETSE MTHEMBU
Dear Mapaseka
I was married to a woman i dearly loved. I’m 38 she is 34. We were blessed with a son who is ten years old. My wife began to act in such a disrespectful manner after she started hanging out with certain friends. We had a very healthy relationship prior to these characters coming into the picture. Now when she started being friends with them comparisons started. She’d be like my friends get X amounts from their husbands or partners or every second week they go out etc etc. I was open to her
regarding our finances and we used to budget together and all.
She changed, became secretive with her whereabouts, I would see on her WhatsApp statuses that they had gone out. I am not controlling but as a way for respect just telling me am going to this place is what I think is okay. When I would ask about her whereabouts, she’d blow a fuse, we’d argue and it was such a mess. These outings become so frequent and I was taking care of our son 90% of the time. So the straw that broke the camel was when I went to Durban for work, she went out leaving my son with our house help, I tried calling to check if she and the family were okay, no answer and I found out she was not home and return around midnight. I still don't know where she was till today. When I came back and questioned her she gave me lame reasons and I could tell there is something happening.
I moved out, started afresh, let her be with her friends. I got my place, focused on my career and my son, started to look after my health and all. By the way families tried to reconcile us but she wasn’t even listening to
them at all at the peak of her joy riding. No she wants me back, now she is saying we must fix our family, I really have a soft spot for her but what happened kills me, am a firm believer in family values and staying true to marriage vows. I am so confused; What should I do in this matter? FROM
