THE LETTER Guest
Dear Mapaseka
I am a 29 year old lady and I took a decision to go back to school to become an
architect which has always been my dream career. So, throughout the year I had not really made friends but rather classmates and acquaintances because 24/7 I was greatly focused on my academics and had no time to socialize. During my studies, I would ask for one-on-one sessions with this specific tutor for a subject I am really struggling with; I needed decent marks in it in order to succeed. During the sessions we became a bit close and started having conversations outside schoolwork and then he mentioned his interest in me and that he likes me. Then I kinda threw myself in the deepend at the time and said I liked him too.
Fast forward a month later after that, I needed help with a past paper that was giving me problems and went to him for help and on that day, he didn't have time to sit down with me as he was rushing off somewhere but asked if I could send it to him. He said he would have a look at it later at home and revert on how to assist me.
To my horror, the next day I get to class and he took my paper and turned it to an assessment/test without helping me. Mapaseka I was so angry, felt betrayed and used because I went to extremes to get that specific past paper, no one had it. I spoke to him about it days later (of him dodging me) and told him how conniving, calculating, unscrupulous he was and all his response was a smirky grin on his face and told me he knew I was going to react like that and just dismissed me, laughed it off without taking into cognisance how deeply hurt I was about what he did.
Exams season came and while I was busy preparing for my exams, I knew that I had to find another time to talk to him again and emphasize to him how he really hurt me but I told myself that I need to focus on my exams first and complete them then I'll deal with it after. As I began my exams, he never called me to wish me good luck or offer any form of support. This was such a lonely and scary journey for me Mapaseka, I was engulfed by anxiety and I thought hell be there for me, offer words of encouragement, comfort ,cheer me on but nothing.
Throughout and after my exams, I hadn't spoken to him, he has been contacting me recently and I hadn't responded to any of his messages and calls.
So I'd like for you, your panel and listeners to help me to ascertain if I am not missing anything and that I am correct in not wanting anything to do with him anymore given the betrayal and treatment he's shown me or I could still pursue anything here.
