Dear Mapaseka
My wife of 14 years is struggling with alcohol, at this point she is an alcoholic. I have had to diagnose her myself and she refuses to attend any AA classes or any form of professional
intervention. We are raising young children who are a 12 yr old girl and a 9 yr old boy. We both used to drink socially when we met, it was always manageable and never drunk. Post her father’s passing and the birth of our son I noticed a different person surfacing. She became irritable about everything and would skip work until she was fired. For the past 8 years I have been living with a woman who wakes up and goes to sleep with alcohol; so much has happened from being arrested for drunk driving whilst with the children to receiving warnings from her new job for missing deadlines and drinking at work. We attended church counseling after much debate and family intervention. I have tried so much to encourage her to see a professional if not for me for the kids. I can't keep having my children
exposed to this. I have tried my best and at this point I am considering divorce especially after she cheated with a male friend of hers and expects me to get over it. I am defeated. My children are
struggling; is this for better or worse? Am i to stay in this marriage till the end?
