Dear Mapaseka
I am a 45 year old woman with a 10 year old son. My main focus in life is work as i am a
sole provider to my family, made up by my mother and siblings. My 38 year old sister and
her 14 year old daughter live with me and my brother stays with his wife at my mother’s
house, along with their children.
In everything i do, i always have to consider them and never put myself first.
I took a loan for my sister in order to pay for her child’s school fees after she broke
up with the child’s father and came to live with me. I am the one paying for the loan
as she keeps telling me her part time job salary is not sufficient to cover it but promises
to eventually pay. I too am a single mom and struggle to even afford all of my son’s
required uniform at school. I am even budgeting for a decent tablet for school.
I have been dating my man for over a year and he often visits me at my place and
my sister is not welcoming to him.
He has suggested that i move in with him in order to assist with my finances and he says
that my my sister could move back to my mother’s house in the North West, we are living
In Bloemfontein. This would help me enormously but i feel so much guilt after sharing
This with my sister. She is so angry and has told the whole family that I am chasing
her and her child away all for a man that she saw cheating on me. When i asked her
To consider taking her child to a public school she refused saying i need to give her more
Time. The finances are killing me and i feel like im drowning; should i move in with my
Boyfriend? He has a good relationship with my son.
