For two days now, we have been walking through 1 Corinthians 8 together. We have framed the question — meat offered to idols, and the conscience of the believer — and we have seen Paul’s first principle — love comes before knowledge. Today, Paul lays the doctrinal foundation. Listen to 1 Corinthians 8, verses 4 through 6, in the Contemporary English Version:

“Even though food is offered to idols, we know that none of the idols in this world are alive. After all, there is only one God. Many things in heaven and on earth are called gods and lords, but none of them really are gods or lords. We have only one God, and he is the Father. He created everything, and we live for him. Jesus Christ is our only Lord. Everything was made by him, and by him life was given to us.”

Life in Christ Ministry ("LICM") is a family of believers committed to the Great Commission: sharing the Good News of life in Christ and discipling nations. We do that though radio, social media, print media, services and seminars, and by supporting and co-laboring with other ministries. We are devoted to Christ, motivated by love, instructed by the Bible, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Pastors Flavio and Valeria Carvalho have been married for nearly 34 years and in ministry for just as long. They are parents of two daughters and recently became grandparents for the first time. They have been a part of Life in Christ Ministry since 1995 and lead pastors since 1997. In addition to family and ministry, they also have careers as a family and immigration law attorney and a realtor, respectively. Above all, they are passionate about enjoying and sharing the abundant and eternal life in Christ!
