Life Changing Weekend 11-24-24 Helping the Homeless with The Streetlight

Thank you to my guest on The Life Changing Weekend, Tiffany Santana, Executive Director of Bethany House of Northern Virginia.  On a typical day 20,000 phone calls are placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide. Women between the ages of 18-24 are the most common victims of abuse by an intimate partner. Domestic violence affects people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, but individuals in lower-income households experience a slightly higher risk. 

Victims of intimate partner violence are at an increased risk of developing chronic pain, neurological disorders, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), high blood pressure, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. These victims are also at higher risk for developing addictions to alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs.

Thank you to my guest, Michael Sweet, Lead Singer, guitarist and songwriter of the Christian hard rock band Stryper!  Michael has led Stryper in 15 albums over 40 years and has also enjoyed a varied career outside the band including 11 solo albums, and from 2007-2011, he was the singer and second guitarist for the 70’s mega-selling band, BOSTON.  Today, Michael and Stryper are back with a new album, “When We Were Kings” - the band’s 15th - and a massive tour celebrating 40 years of Stryper. 

Michael and I had a great conversation about being the challenges and rewards of being a Christian band in an often unwelcoming world of secular rock music, his influences, his new album and what to expect when the band’s 40 anniversary tour arrives in Baltimore on November 10!
