Over the past 6 weeks there has been several incidents and safety observations conducted that have identified the below hazards and non-conformances;
Several truck drivers did not maintain 3 points of contact when climbing in/out of the truck cabin resulting in injury.
Twin pick forklift tipped forward due to the operator applying the brakes to hard and the containers positioned too high when transporting.
Counter balance forklift operators observed fastening the seatbelt behind the seat, in turn bypassing the safety device installed by the manufacture.
The visitor sign in and out register for Australian Border Force (ABF) is not being completed correctly resulting in $10,000 fines for each incorrect entry.
Safety Observation 4 Key Focus Areas
Truck drivers MUST maintain three points of contact when climbing in and out of the truck cab.
When twin pick container forklifts are traveling loaded they MUST not raise the containers higher than 1 m above seat height.
Forklift operators MUST wear the seatbelt when operating the forklift.
All visitors to Australian Border Force licenced facilities MUST complete all sections of the visitor log Note: this includes; full name, residential address, licence number, who they are reporting to, vehicle registration number, time in and time out.
