She also talks about the apparent normalisation of antisemitism in our classrooms, with teachers claiming they have a right or mandate to push a strong, pro-Palestinian viewpoint on students as young as those of kindergarten age, without any repercussions. Jess also talks about the recent revelation that Victoria’s “Respectful Relationships” curriculum has been amended so that children as young as 5-years-old can be taught that ‘their body parts may not match their gender’ and that biologically male students who identify as female are entitled to play sport on girls’ teams. This ignores strong evidence-based criticism from psychiatrists on the introduction at an early age of the idea of being transgender.

Description: Morry Frenkel speaks with A/Prof Les Schreiber, Associate Professor of medicine at the University of Sydney, about the reasons behind his decision to publicly criticise the recent actions of university students who turned their backs on Jewish students seeking support to stamp out on-campus anti-Semitism and were defending the existence of the Jewish state, as well as the general lack of action by the university’s administration against on-campus antisemitism. This lack of effective action has led to some faculty members leaving the university and has potential students questioning whether attending the University of Sydney is their best option for continuing their studies. Les also condemned the involvement of some faculty members in newsletters that contained virulently anti-Zionist material and called for a single Palestinian state, although the university has now clamped down on this activity. Les also reported on the ‘behind-the-scenes’ activity of the Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism (the 5A group) since its formation in November, 2023.

This approach is much more likely to lead to a rational discussion than a heated argument. She also talks about the apparent normalisation of antisemitism in our classrooms, with teachers claiming they have a right or mandate to push a strong, pro-Palestinian viewpoint on students as young as those of kindergarten age, without any repercussions. Jess also talks about the recent revelation that Victoria&rsquo;s &ldquo;Respectful Relationships&rdquo; curriculum has been amended so that children as young as 5-years-old can be taught that &lsquo;their body parts may not match their gender&rsquo; and that biologically male students who identify as female are entitled to play sport on girls&rsquo; teams. This ignores strong evidence-based criticism from psychiatrists on the introduction at an early age of the idea of being transgender.
