Maurice Klein speaks with Rosalie Silverstein OAM, founder, manager and heartbeat of the Jewish Children's Aid Society's (JCAS) iconic Posh Opp Shoppes in Elsternwick and Glenhuntly, which have turned 25. The goal of the JCAS and the Posh Opp Shoppes is supporting the Melbourne Jewish Day Schools to include students with a disability into their mainstream classrooms. Every Jewish child has a right to a Jewish education regardless of their special needs. The feeling of belonging and inclusion into the community is paramount to success for special needs children and their families. In addition and just as importantly, a whole generation of school children are educated to embrace differences and welcome children into the community. There are four ways to support the Posh Opp Shoppes: Volunteering, Donate Pre-Loved Goods, Donating directly to JCAS (at www.jcas.org.au) and of course, shopping for some bargains at the Posh Opp Shoppes. Rosalie was this week recognised and acknowledged with the Outstanding Achievement Award as part of the 2024 Caulfield Volunteer Awards, which recognise local volunteers and their contribution to the community. For more information please go to www.poshoppshoppe.com.au; or phone on (03) 9528 1777. You are a blessing angel Rosalie!
