Morry Frenkel speaks with Peter Wertheim AM, Co-CEO of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), about Australian universities' partial compliance with recommendations from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights inquiry into campus antisemitism (tabled early 2025). Peter explains that the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion covers universities but extends to all antisemitic activity affecting Jewish and non-Jewish communities. He calls it the most significant event in Australian Jewish history, with audiences including non-Jewish Australians, government, and international Jewish communities — and expresses confidence that its recommendations could reduce antisemitism to pre-October 2023 levels.
