Morry Frenkel speaks with John Spooner, award-winning editorial cartoonist at The Australian newspaper, about the role of the political cartoonist in mainstream media. John also talks about the creative process in producing a cartoon that highlights a news story through a seemingly simple drawing that nevertheless contains the essence of a complex issue. He describes the thinking behind a number of his cartoons depicting aspects of antisemitism, the war in Gaza and the misguided pro-Palestinian protest movement.
