Morry Frenkel speaks with Dr. Lauren Chalk, Research Fellow at Monash University's Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC) and leader of MIRRA and Noè Harsel, Senior Policy Advisor and Senior Lecturer at the ACJC, and MIRRA team member. Noè outlines the ACJC and MIRRA before introducing MIRRA's new report on Holocaust education and antisemitism in Australia. Lauren shares the report's key findings, including participants' uncertainty about the value of Holocaust studies on its own. Holocaust education, Lauren and Noè suggest, has perhaps been burdened with addressing antisemitism single-handedly — it should instead be one part of a broader effort that also examines contemporary Jewish life and contribution to society.
