Police Officers Daughter Started Blue Line Bears at 14, For Families of Fallen Law Enforcement Officers. Her Amazing Story. She has been harassed and threatened but her mission continues. Meet the incredible Megan O'Grady and hear her story.

When 5 Dallas Police Officers were ambushed and murdered, and 9 were injured she got inspired to do something. Megan O'Grady is our guest. She is the daughter of a Police Officer and she was only 14 years old when those Police Officers were murdered. That is when she got the inspiration to start Blue Line Bears.

Now a College Student, she has been harassed and threatened for her work with Blue Line Bears and for being a family member of a police officer.

Blue Line Bears is a nonprofit organization with the goal of helping the children of fallen Law Enforcement officers cope with the devastating loss of a parent. Children of law enforcement officers grow up realizing that their parent’s life is at risk every day they go to work.  Add to that the fact that there is much public ridicule of law enforcement officers, and deaths in the line of duty are sudden, shocking and violent.

Blue Line Bears creates custom hand made teddy bear keepsakes and mails them the the families of the fallen. Blue Line Bears uses one of the patches from the department, and collar from one of their uniform shirts. The shirts are cut, sewn and stuffed into a teddy bear.  Additionally, a personalized badge with the officer’s last name and badge number is sewn on the bear’s stomach while the officer’s Department patch is stitched onto the back of the bear.  If the officer had stripes for rank or service, those also adorn the bear as well.  Finally, each bear is given a St. Michael medal and blessed by a priest before being mailed to the family.  All of this at no expense to the family.  Through the use of donations and other contributions, Blue Line Bears purchases all materials, as well as cover the cost of shipping.
