Tomorrow New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is expected to name his former chief of staff, George Helmy, to serve as interim senator.
Sen. Bob Menendez, who Helmy is replacing, will be resigning from the Senate this month after he was convicted on federal bribery charges. His last day will be next Tuesday.
Sen. Cory Booker is praising Murphy’s choice of Helmy, who will serve out the final three months of Menendez’s term in the U.S. Senate.
