The abrupt closing of University of the Arts will be the focus of a hearing by Pennsylvania lawmakers today. The Democrat-led House Majority Policy Committee will hear from students, faculty and alumni about the impact the school closure has had on them.
The hearing is at 10 a.m. at the William Way LGBT Community Center.
Last week, the union representing faculty at UArts sent a letter to Pennsylvania's attorney general, asking her to investigate possible wrongdoing that may have led to the school shutting down.
The school announced on May 31 that it would close on June 7, citing declining enrollment and revenue. Students and staff say school leaders have failed to answer any of their questions.
