Arrests were made this morning as students at Princeton University set up an encampment in a campus courtyard to protest the war in Gaza, the student newspaper The Princetonian reports. Administrators at Princeton University warned students not to build encampments, like students at Columbia and other elite universities have done. A letter from school officials notified students that encampments and building takeovers are not permitted, citing safety concerns for protesters and others. The letter said anyone who violates this policy would be removed and barred from campus, jeopardizing students' ability to finish the semester.
Students have called for the school to divest from companies that do business with Israel, officially condemn the actions of Israel in Gaza and call for an immediate ceasefire. Hamas has refused multiple offers for a ceasefire and prisoner exchanges.
