Serena Williams hosted the ESPYs Thursday night for an award showcase that honored a groundbreaking year for women in sports.

South Carolina women's Basketball Head Coach and North Philly native Dawn Staley received the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.

But Staley said she felt "undeserving" of the honor, calling herself a spectator to the courage displayed by others in her life as they fought cancer.
