Pa. counties can begin processing mail-in ballot applications. Here's what you need to know

View descriptionShare

Today is the first day that counties in Pennsylvania can begin processing mail-in ballot applications. It will likely be a few weeks before you receive your ballot, though.

Data appears to show that mail-in voting has increased turnout in elections, according to Steve Ulrich, managing editor of the news and analysis site PoliticsPA.

If you are voting by mail this year, you must sign and date the outer return envelope, otherwise your vote won't be counted. The Pennsylvania State Supreme Court on Friday sided with Republicans on a legal technicality. Democrats argue that the date is meaningless. Gov. Josh Shapiro has called on the Legislature to fix the law.
