A driver was killed when one or more people in a Jeep opened fire at his car in West Philadelphia overnight, officials said. Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, police said a black Cadillac and a burgundy Jeep were driving west on Walnut Street, passing 53rd and 54th streets. That’s when one to three people in the Jeep — possibly more — opened fire at the Cadillac driver, according to police.
Both vehicles crashed into each other near 55th and Walnut streets. Officers responded to the scene and found the Cadillac driver, a 29-year-old man, dead. Police also found the Jeep with no one inside, but Police Capt. Andrew DiSanto said they did find weapons.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting. They are trying to identify and find the people responsible.
