Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, best known for his documentary "Super Size Me," has died.
Spurlock died Thursday of complications from cancer, according to his family.
The director made his debut 20 years ago with "Super Size Me," in which he ate only McDonald's for a month in order to show the dangers of a fast food diet.
"Super Size Me" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Spurlock followed it with documentaries like "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?" and "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold."
His career came to a halt in 2017 after he wrote a blog post admitting to sexual misconduct, then stepped down from his production company.
Spurlock was 53.
