COVID-19 has killed more than 1 million Americans and 7 million throughout the world, but those numbers are dwarfed by the estimated 60 million worldwide suffering from long COVID.
About 20 million in the U.S. suffer from long COVID. Symptoms can range from shortness of breath and fatigue to changes in heart rate and problems with memory.
Numerous symptoms make it hard to define long COVID, but there is one rule: Long COVID must follow a COVID infection and be present for at least three months as a “continuous, relapsing or progressive disease state that affects one or more organ systems.”
