Right as his tax evasion trial was set to begin on Thursday, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to all counts. In the courtroom, Biden admitted he committed each of the crimes.
His attorney Abbe Lowell says prosecutors were likely to highlight how his client spent money on drugs, escorts and girlfriends. Pleading guilty was about protecting Biden's loved ones from what Lowell calls a show trial.
In a statement, Biden said like millions of Americans, he failed to pay his taxes on time. He could face up to 17 years in federal prison.
The White House says President Joe Biden will not pardon his son or commute his sentence.
