Hundreds of volunteers have been out in Philadelphia overnight counting how many homeless people are living on the streets and in shelters. It's part of the annual Point-in-Time Count, which helps local and federal governments understand what kind of services the homeless population needs.

This count is happening all over the country.

The Biden administration says in 2023, HUD helped more than 424,000 households out of homelessness.
