A woman from Atlantic County has been charged with more than 40 counts of animal neglect. Police searched the home of 57-year-old Nancy Santos after getting several reports of animals living in inhumane conditions.

Officers rescued seven dogs and 29 cats, and they found seven other dead animals -- some, investigators say, were inside a freezer.

Galloway police said the rescued animals were relocated.
