Health officials say you should stay inside as much as possible again today because of the hazardous air quality. KYW Newsradio's John McDevitt joins us live from Logan Square.

We're seeing people out and about, wearing masks, and some saying they are limiting their time spent outdoors. Medical professionals are advising people to wear N95 masks, especially for those with pulmonary issues.

Veterinarian Dr. Katie Krebs, at the University of Pennsylvania, says that some pets have difficult times in these conditions, too.

"Yeah, we tend to see asthma more in cats. We certainly can see respiratory diseases in dogs, as well, but when we think about asthma, like what people get, we do see feline asthma. And especially for cats that are already diagnosed with asthma, air conditions like what we're seeing right now can be especially hazardous for them."

She says, if possible, keep pets indoors, run air purifiers if possible. Many people are hoping the wind patterns will shift soon so they and their pets can breathe a lot easier.
